PAINTING CAMP I:
Animals & Woodlands
July 8-12

ACTIVITIES: Campers will have a blast creating amazing animal portraits on canvas with acrylic paints! We will explore colorful fish, amphibians, reptiles, mammals and birds. Campers will learn painting techniques that create the illusion of animal fur, scales, feathers, and hair direction. Young artists will gain confidence in applying layers of paint, mixing colors to achieve exceptional values and depth and complete compositions with exciting backgrounds. Parents should get those frames ready for some amazing new canvas paintings coming home!

HAUNTED HOUSE CAMP

ACTIVITIES: Welcome to our 4th annual Haunted House Camp Week! Students will design haunted house sets, sculpt papermache’ demons and skeletons, paint dungeon walls and experiment with zombie MAKE-UP. This is a fully immersive experience on how to create a frightening haunted house in the halls and rooms of the Danvers Art Association. Campers will write scripts, don costumes and practice performing. Family and friends will be invited to experience the nightmare at the end of the week. Artwork and performances developed during camp week will be used in the 4th annual DAA Haunted House fundraising event in October for the public to enjoy.

FIGURE DRAWING CAMP

ACTIVITIES: This intensive 4-night course provides students with an introduction to the essentials of life-drawing including proportion, scale, shading, composition, mark making, as well as historical and contemporary approaches to realizing the figure. Students will work with live (clothed) models. Each of our 4 nights will include gesture studies, varying media including charcoal, graphite, conte, and ink.

PLEIN AIR PAINTING CAMP
July 29 - August 2

ACTIVITIES: Plein Air Painting is a French expression meaning “in the open air”, and refers to the act of painting outdoors with the artist's subject in full view. Plein air artists capture the spirit and essence of a landscape or subject by incorporating natural light, color and movement into their works. Our camp will be working off-site at various locations around the Danvers area. Students will explore watercolor and acrylic painting. This is a rain or shine camp ... chairs with umbrellas and individual canopies are suggested. Parental support is necessary with carpooling to and from our destinations.

WOODCARVING CAMP
August 5-9

Woodcarving is a creative craft that is challenging and rewarding to first timers and returning students. Students will design and carve 2-3 original wooden relief sculptures in various themes. Members of our class will learn proper techniques using mallets, chisels, sanding blocks, knives, wood burners, stains, and acrylic paints.

PROCREATE DIGITAL PAINTING CAMP
August 12-16
INSTRUCTOR: Jeff Surette
WHO: Entering Grades 4-8

ACTIVITIES:Combine your creativity with technology and learn to create your very own beautiful digital artworks on Procreate! Our camp will be a crash course on the exciting digital platform. Campers will have so much fun drawing that you’ll forget you were even learning a new program in the first place! Learn the basic tools to start making art in Procreate, add vibrant colors, adjust palettes, experiment with textured brushes, and add special effects. Campers will be able to export your artwork and the process video behind it as an MP4 - the video of how you made the artwork is almost as fun to enjoy as the original painting.
Regarding Materials:
Students need to arrive with a charged iPad tablet and latest version of Procreate downloaded. Optional: Tablet stylus pen.

Ocean Creatures +
Coastal Landsacapes
August 12-16

ACTIVITIES: Students will learn painting techniques that create realistic and stylized ocean landscapes. Tidal pools, deep oceans and coastal landscape with crashing waves and energetic sea life aplenty will be explored as we place imaginative elements into our compositions. Jellyfish, sharks, clownfish, octopus, turtles, mermaids, sea-serpents, and characters of our own creation will be making guest appearances in our paintings. Parents should get frames ready for some amazing new canvas paintings coming home!

Jewelry Making:
July 22-26

ACTIVITIES: Mixed Media students will develop their artistic skills exploring a variety of 2D and 3D wet and dry media. Activities will include drawing, painting, print making, weaving, sewing and assemblage. Students will find inspiration in personal interests, the natural world, and in other artist's work.

ACTIVITIES: Jewelry making workshop students will explore color, pattern and texture, shape and form, working with a variety of beads on cable, wire and Stretch Magic elastic. Students will experiment with incorporating polymer clay, fabric, and vintages and found materials into their designs. They will develop skills using simple jewelry tools such as pliers and hand-drills.
